Anritsu said it is enabling support for the new 3GPP 5G Sub-6 GHz New Radio (NR) RF measurement standards in the company’s Universal Wireless Test Set MT8870A software. Adding support for Sub-6 GHz, says the company, is expected to help in the testing and validation of 5G chipsets, modules and finished-products, such as smartphones.
“Using the developed 5G Sub-6 GHz NR Uplink Tx Measurement and Downlink Waveform File software options will support non-signaling based 5G Sub-6 GHz TRx tests.”
3GPP’s 5G NR will support frequency ranges up to 52.6 GHz, but initial 5G designs will use frequencies below 6 GHz. Support for this Sub-6 GHz standard is expected to be the helpful for vendors of 5G devices, such as smartphones, the company said in the Press release.
Anritsu noted that its advanced MT8870A platform features a seamless frequency band up to 6 GHz and a bandwidth of 160 MHz. So, it is ready for testing 5G NR sub-6 GHz wireless devices, and does not require hardware upgrades to support the 3GPP 5G Sub-6 GHz defined test conditions. This will enable users to expand functions for 5G Sub-6GHz NR while minimizing upgrade cost risks.
