EXFO Inc., the provider of smart test, monitoring and analytics solutions form the communications industry, introduces the Optical Wave Expert, a device that integrates DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) channel power validation and intelligent OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) fault-locating capabilities on a single port.

With a design for saving MSO’s (Multiple Service Operator’s) time and money, the Optical Wave Expert equips field technicians to automatically measure, diagnose and troubleshoot optical fiber links. The integration of channel checker and OTDR capabilities on a single port reduces unnecessary manipulation of the optical fiber and improves field efficiency. Instead of relying on ‘trial and error’ (that increased the chance of disabling nodes), the Optical Wave Expert ensures faster mean-time-to-repair and accelerates service turn-up and time to revenue.
